Tamil writer Pavannan is known for his short stories, novels that portray real life, an aspect with which his readers find resonance. His first story, Pazhuthu, got published in a Tamil Magazine Deepam, in 1982. His translation of a Kannada novel to Tamil, titled Paruvam, is critically acclaimed and won Sahithya Academy Award in 2005. Beyond being a writer, translator, he is also renowned as a literary critic. Pavannan has written reviews about 100 Tamil stories that were quite popular among readers.
